NYS Manufacturing NOW Shows You Silicones That Work

New York State Manufacturing NOW visited Specialty Silicone Products (SSP), a leading manufacturer of silicone materials and products for industries ranging from healthcare and pharmaceuticals to aerospace and defense. Through a plant tour and video interviews, FuzeHub learned how this Capital Region manufacturer grew from five founders in 1989 to nearly 100 employees today.

SSP’s tagline, Silicones That Work, describes this can-do company’s commitment to developing materials and products that solve tough challenges. For example, the company’s electrically conductive silicones combine environmental sealing with proven shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) in accordance with U.S. military standards.

SSP also makes ultra-pure, ultra-clean silicones that it converts into septa. These thin, gasket-like disks are used to seal vials in laboratories. SSP’s silicone septa support multiple piercings with a needle during automated sampling. The company’s development of a PFAS-free septa cap is the latest in a series of innovations that includes high-purity septa that won’t contaminate samples.

Watch the video and see how SSP’s advanced materials and laboratory products are made. You’ll meet Adam Stiles, President and Chief Operating Officer; Matt Lampo, Product Manager; and Taylor Smith, Research Development Chemist. FuzeHub would also like to thank Kevin Wickert, Sales and Marketing Manager; co-founder Paul DiCaprio; and everyone at SSP who hosted us.
