Head Of Xbox Game Studio Updates 'Starfield' Release Window; Game Absent At Recent Bethesda Event

KEY POINTS

  • "Starfield" was initially scheduled to launch in November 2022
  • The game was pushed to a later date and has no exact release date yet
  • "Starfield" will reportedly release after the launch of "Redfall"

Starfield, the highly anticipated space-faring RPG from Bethesda Game Studios, despite its popularity among gamers, has no exact release date yet. Interestingly, a recent interview with one of the top honchos at Microsoft revealed the release window of the much-awaited title, which is sometime in 2023.

In a recent interview with Xbox Game Studio head Matt Booty, he said that "Starfield" would be released sometime after the official rollout of "Redfall." Both games were delayed earlier this year and until now both have no definite release date yet.

During his appearance at the Friends Per Second podcast, Booty talked about how Bethesda and Todd Howard are not just making a "Skyrim in space" with "Starfield" but doing something more. "Having had the chance over the last year and a half or so to spend more time with Todd Howard and see how he works and see what he brings to game design, I'm confident that he's not gonna sit still on what was built before," Booty shared.

"Starfield" is scheduled to roll out in the first half of 2023, which is the same window that Bethesda gave for "Redfall." While it has not been confirmed yet, it is understandable that Microsoft would create a little distance between the games' releases so they don't compete with each other in terms of sales.

Granting that both games will be released in the first half of 2023, "Redfall" will most likely launch sometime between March and April while "Starfield" could release sometime between May and June. But, since this is not yet confirmed, there is a chance that the game developer would push for "Starfield's" release sometime during the Holiday of next year.

In other "Starfield" news, the game was absent at the recent Bethesda event where Todd Howard, along with other employees, received recognition for their contributions over the years. The recognized developers and staffers received Bethesda awards scrolls that looked like the actual "Elder Scrolls" seen in "Skyrim."

Interestingly, there was no mention or show of "Starfield" at the recent Bethesda event. It appears that the team is not yet ready to confirm that the upcoming space-faring open-world game is complete.
