IKEA to soon begin online deliveries across Delhi-NCR: Report

People across Delhi-NCR have a reason to rejoice. Swedish retail giant IKEA is set to roll out online deliveries in Delhi-NCR. The significant expansion comes nearly seven years after IKEA forayed into the Indian market. The company will begin e-commerce operations in partnership with Germany-based Rhenus Logistics, using a 1.5 lakh square feet warehouse in Gurugram, The Indian Express reported.

Currently, IKEA delivers only in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana, where it also has physical stores in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The Delhi-NCR online operations will commence before the launch of its under-construction stores in Gurugram and Noida, the report further stated.

At present, around 30% of IKEA’s total sales comes from the e-commerce segment and it plays a crucial role in its India strategy. Last year, the company partnered with Rhenus Logistics to facilitate its expansion into Delhi-NCR, with online deliveries expected to start by early 2025.

IKEA is likely to open its first Delhi-NCR store in Gurugram, featuring a 4 lakh square feet retail space and a 1,000-seater restaurant serving Indian and Swedish cuisine. Meanwhile, construction of the Noida store began in September 2023, when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone.
