Billie Eilish Has Thoughts on Rihanna Wanting to Collab: “Riri!? I’ll Literally Do Anything You Want”

Billie Eilish has heard that Rihanna wants to collaborate with her. She is entirely shocked by the news, and 100 percent here for it.

The Hit Me Hard and Soft artist sat down with Complex for its most recent cover. While speaking with the magazine, she was asked what she thought when she heard the “Umbrella” singer wanted to work with her.

“I literally thought it was AI, first of all,” she told the publication, laughing. “I’ve never met Rihanna. She’s literally my idol. She’s the greatest of all time. She’s my complete dream collab.”

Eilish added that she doesn’t typically answer when she’s asked who she would like to work with on a song, but she always thinks about Rihanna.

“I’m not going to say that, though! Why would I say that?! It’s not real,” she said. “I would think, like, ‘She probably doesn’t even like me.’ I’ve never heard from her, and I’ve never had any interaction with her, so why would I have ever even thought about it?”

Rihanna spoke to Access Hollywood in October and was asked who her dream collaborator would be. She replied, “If I could only do a song with Billie Eilish.” Shortly after, she doubled down and echoed Eilish’s shock that she knew her.

“Does Billie Eilish know me? Billie is the most anti-coolest girl ever,” the Fenty founder said. “In my mind, she doesn’t listen to commercial music. She doesn’t listen to anyone’s music. I feel like she’s just creating her diary vocally. You can feel like she’s just zoned into who she is and what she’s experiencing and what she’s feeling, even if she doesn’t know what it is.”

In her conversation with Complex, Eilish addressed Rihanna specifically saying “if only” they could work together. “I was like, ‘Well, bitch, I’ve been sitting here this whole time!’ What the fuck is she even talking about? [Laughs.] Honestly,” she continued. “What do you mean, ‘If only’?! It’s, like, as if I’ve been saying, ‘No.’ Rihanna! Riri!? I’ll literally do anything you want. That’s insane.”

The “Birds of a Feather” singer is currently on tour for her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, while the “Disturbia” artist has been discussing her upcoming album since 2018 when she first revealed it was in the works.

Earlier this year, she told Entertainment Tonight that she was “starting over” on R9, which is what the album has been called thus far.

“I think that music, for me, is a new discovery. I’m rediscovering things,” she said in June. “I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside, and now I’m prepared to go back in the studio. I’m gonna start — give me a second!”

Despite starting over on the album she had been working on for six years, she noted she doesn’t want to “neglect” the songs she has already created. “I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective,” she said, “and then see what applies and what I’m still in love with.”
