Andrew Garfield to Goldie Hawn: "There's a person that gave my mother during her life the most joy, the most comfort and tonight I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn."#Oscarshttps://t.co/nl9CxOviL4 pic.twitter.com/ZECLT3Imk4 — ABC News (@ABC) March 3, 2025The sweet moment continued as Garfield highlighted Hawn's filmography, spanning over five decades, and celebrated how she has lifted people's spirits. Hawn responded with gratitude and humor, saying, "I was so lucky making movies in this amazing Hollywood, and making people laugh. And maybe some didn't, but that's okay." Andrew Garfield has been open about the grief that he felt following his mother's death. Andrew's mom, Lynn Garfield, died from pancreatic cancer in 2019. The actor, best known for "The Amazing Spider-Man," was shooting the 2021 film "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" when his mother passed away. The year after the movie premiered, Garfield chose to step away from acting for a while. The tragedy of his mother's death is something Andrew still deals with, and he even appeared on "Sesame Street" in 2024 to discuss how it feels to lose a close family member. He said in a discussion with Elmo, "I'm happy to have all the memories of my mom and the joy she brought me. And the joy she brought my brother, and my dad, everyone she ever met, everyone around her. So, when I miss her, I remember it's because she made me so happy. So, I can celebrate her and I can miss her at the same time."
